Half-Time 6th Grade Math Teacher

Location: Headwaters Academy
Type: Half-time

Overview:
Headwaters Academy is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable 6th Grade Math Teacher to join our team on a half-time basis. The successful candidate will deliver engaging and effective math instruction based on the Illustrative Math curriculum, focusing on creating a supportive and inclusive environment that fosters a love for learning in our students.

Responsibilities:

  • Implement the Illustrative Math curriculum effectively, ensuring that lessons are prepared and delivered with clarity and enthusiasm.

  • Assess student progress, provide feedback, and adapt teaching methods to meet individual student needs.

  • Collaborate with colleagues to enhance the instructional environment and advocate for the continuous improvement of student learning.

  • Participate in professional development opportunities to remain current with educational practices and advancements.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Education, or a STEM related field.

  • Proven experience in middle school education, preferably in Mathematics or a STEM related field.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Teacher / Learning Center Instructor

Location: Headwaters Academy
Type: Variable hours

Overview:
Headwaters Academy is seeking a flexible and dynamic educator to serve both as a Substitute Teacher and a Learning Center Instructor. This role requires a versatile individual who can step into various classroom settings as needed and also provide targeted support to students through catch-up and enrichment projects in the Learning Center.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a substitute teacher across various grade levels and subjects, following lesson plans and ensuring classroom continuity.

  • Work individually with students in the Learning Center to provide support for catch-up and enrichment projects, tailoring approaches to student needs.

  • Collaborate with teaching staff and contribute to a cohesive learning environment.

  • Maintain professional and effective classroom management skills.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education or a relevant field.

  • Teaching certification preferred.

  • Experience in classroom teaching and individual student instruction.

  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing classroom environments and student needs.

  • Strong organizational and communication skills.

Seminar Instructor

Location: Headwaters Academy
Type: Contract (Two-hour block on Monday and/or Friday)

Overview:
Headwaters Academy is excited to offer an opportunity for a Seminar Instructor to lead engaging seminars for our middle school students (6th, 7th, and 8th grade) during the 2024/2025 school year. The ideal candidate will be passionate about one or more of the following areas: outdoors, wellness, academic topics, STEM, fine arts, or service. This position is perfect for someone who thrives in a collaborative and fun educational setting, working with small groups of students to explore specialized topics in depth.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and teach a two-hour seminar block on Mondays and/or Fridays, focusing on your area of expertise.

  • Engage students in hands-on, experiential learning activities that inspire and challenge.

  • Foster a classroom environment that encourages curiosity and active participation.

  • Collaborate with other educators to enhance interdisciplinary learning opportunities.

  • Assess student engagement and learning, providing feedback to both students and parents.


Qualifications:

  • Expertise in one or more of the designated seminar areas (outdoors, wellness, academics, STEM, fine arts, service).

  • Educational background relevant to the subject area, with prior teaching/instructional experience preferred.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Ability to create and maintain a dynamic, interactive classroom environment.

  • Passionate about working with middle school students in a small group setting.
