Camp Headwaters
Headwater's new Junior Counselor (JC) program is designed to give middle school students job experience in youth development! We aim for JCs to build confidence in their leadership skills and feel empowered to impact other youth, their community, and the world. Whether or not they are a Headwaters student, this program will allow them to experience the benefits of camp, take on more adult-like responsibilities, and learn to lead. With this leadership opportunity, they will be prepared to apply for Camp Counselor positions at local camps as they get older. Junior Counselor positions are open by application only. During Camp Headwaters, each JC will be assigned to a group of campers and two adult counselors to work with daily. Once a week, each JC will be asked to lead a 30-60 minute session for their group; the JC will design the lesson plan with help from their mentor. They will also receive weekly career development workshops, in which they learn tips for writing a resume, searching for a job, and interviewing.
Junior Counselor camps run Monday through Thursday, 8:00am-4:00pm. Weekly themes for counselors are:
July 10th - Friendship: Team Building
July 17th - Spirit: Camp Songs & Traditions
July 24th - Participation: Community
July 31st - Creativity: Sports, Games, Themed Days

Headwaters will be partnering with the following summer camps to provide hands-on leadership opportunities with their programming and campers.
