Confident, Capable Learners and Leaders for a Changing World
Headwaters Academy has long been known for its strong academics supported by the small class sizes and talented, dedicated faculty. The classes cover the traditional academic and study skills necessary for success, but, more importantly, the students are challenged to develop in areas determined as the “core competencies” of Headwaters Academy.
Students learn the skills necessary to resolve both interpersonal issues and academic challenges.
Students are organized in thought, expression, work, and physical space to prepare them for success in the academic and personal spheres of their lives.
Students are socially engaged in their community of family, teachers, peers, and the world.
Students are eager to take on academic challenges, voice opinions, persevere through adversity, and assume leadership roles.
Students find their voice and share it effectively, within and beyond the school setting, through listening, speaking, writing, and a variety of media.
Students are recognized for excellence in music, art, and writing; and for their willingness to achieve beyond the classroom.
Students assume responsibility for their actions in their academic and personal lives.
Students acquire advanced academic skills in critical analysis, public speaking, written communication and the maths, sciences and technology; they are driven by intellectual curiosity.
Students are entrusted with the freedom to explore and share their thoughts in a safe environment of mutual respect.
