The Headwaters admission team strives to accept students who they feel will be successful. Prospective students need to be a good fit for the school, and the school needs to be a good fit for the students. Headwaters will never encourage a student to continue the application process if the fit appears to be inappropriate. The profile of a Headwaters student? Motivated, well-behaved, and academically astute.

There are three components to the application process: a school visit, a written application, and a personal interview.

The School Visit
After an initial discussion with the Headmaster and/or the Admissions Director, a school visit may be scheduled. The visiting student will ideally fully participate in two complete school days at Headwaters Academy. Given the block schedule, two consecutive days, Monday through Thursday, are ideal for the visit. The school visit allows the student and the HWA staff the opportunity to determine if the application process should be pursued further. Please contact HWA to discuss a student visit.

The Written Application
If the school visit leads to continued interest by both the applicant and the Headwaters Academy representatives, a written application is to be completed. Because of HWA's desire for its students to be successful, a number of pertinent forms are to be completed. They include Student and Family Information, a short Student Writing Sample, the Parents' Interview, two Educational Recommendations, Permission to Release Information (academic and behavioral), and the Tobacco, Alcohol, and Drug Free Commitment.

The Personal Interview
After all written application materials are received, and assuming that the information received is consistent with Headwaters Academy's standards, a personal interview is scheduled with the parents/guardians and the prospective student.
