CURRICULUM AND CLASS SEQUENCE
HWA students immerse themselves in the core disciplines of mathematics, science, history, English, and art. All students also participate in physical education and music. In sixth grade, students take a technology class for three quarters and a Spanish introductory class for the final quarter. In seventh and eighth grades, Spanish is included in the core curriculum.

ABOUT HEADWATERS ACADEMY
Headwaters Academy is Bozeman's only private, independent middle school for students in grades six through eight. Our mission: To build confident, capable, adaptable learners and leaders for the changing world. We emphasize a low student-to-teacher ratio with small classes. We are now taking applications for the 2011-2012 school year. As of 3/30/11, there is a waiting list for the 2011-2012 8th grade; there are a few openings left for the 7th grade, and there are openings in the 6th grade.
Headwaters Academy was founded in 1990. It has evolved over the years into an inclusive
and collaborative community featuring a classical, yet progressive, educational approach.
Teachers often take their classes to the mountains, rivers, nearby university, and the community to provide the students with an educational foundation that can successfully carry them through the rest of their lives.
