Jan. 12                              8th grade WWII school museum- 6:45 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Jan. 15                              Bowling/Games at MSU Rec Center 3:45 to 5:45 (Everyone invited; HPO sponsored)
Jan. 26, 27                        1st Semester Finals –Early dismissal at 2:10 p.m.
Jan. 28                             1st Semester Finals – Early Dismissal at 12 noon
Jan. 29                              NO SCHOOL – Teacher grading day

* The Winter Concert and Dessert Auction is TONIGHT at MSU’s Reynolds Recital Hall, which is in Howard Hall, across from the duck pond. Students are to arrive no later than 6:45 p.m. The concert begins at 7 p.m. Students should dress appropriately; gentlemen wear nice pants and button-down shirt with tie, ladies wear nice pants and blouse or dress. No short skirts, jeans or sneakers. Please bring your desserts at 6:30 p.m. Desserts need to be completely wrapped and covered in clear wrap (food may not be opened or consumed at the Recital Hall).
* Student Council is sponsoring a student Christmas/Hannukah party Thursday, Dec. 17 from 12 -1:30 p.m. Students are having a ‘white elephant’ gift exchange. Please bring a gift that is under $5 –can be new, old, funny, practical, edible, etc. School lunch will be served as normal, in addition to the holiday treats!
* Ski Day is tomorrow at Big Sky! Please have students arrive by 7:45 a.m. –we leave at 8 a.m.! Please contact Sam or Megan with questions.
* Midterm grades were mailed to parents on Dec. 17. Also enclosed is a revised school calendar.
* The next Parent Organization meeting is Thursday, Jan. 7! Parent Organization meetings are the 1st Thursday of every month. They are held after school at 3:45 p.m in the meeting room at the school.
* The Annual Fundraiser is now at $9000; $18,000 with matching funds! 100% participation from parents and staff is a big deal to our large donors. The annual fund is crucial to our operating budget. Make your donation before Dec. 31 –it is tax-deductible!
* 8th grade class presents “Shadows of War: Artifacts from World War II” on Jan. 12. This school museum consists of artifacts collected and researched by the 8th grade class! The museum will be open Jan. 12 from 6:45 p.m. -8 p.m. in the meeting room at HWA. It is open to all: invite friends, family, neighbors, etc. Come and see the results of their hard work!
* The school calendar is now in easy-to-read form on the HWA web site for your convenience, and it's being constantly updated. The link is at the bottom of every web page.
* Mrs. Williams still needs a parent volunteer to make a dessert for Jan. 13- ‘The Dessert Series’. 40 servings of peanut/nut free treats for Jan. 13 are needed. The Dessert Series features a speaker during lunch –they talk to the students on various topics. A tasty dessert is served!
* Tardies: Two school-wide tardies are allowed each month with no penalty. A cleaning project will be assigned for the third tardy and each ensuing tardy thereafter for the month. Medical appointments will not be counted and the staff will be reasonable in the case of bad weather. Classes begin at 8:30 a.m. Please call the Main Office at 585-9997 to advise staff if your child is ill or will be late due to medical appointments. 
* The April 16 Teacher In Service Day and early dismissal has been changed to Friday, March 26. Early dismissal will be at 1:15 p.m.
* Outdoor Ed trip dates for the 8th grade have been changed to Feb. 3-5. They will be on outdoor ed the same days as the 6th and 7th graders.
* The MATHCOUNTS competition will be held at MSU on Feb. 9. Mrs. Birrell has been prepping the students who are involved.

LUNCH MENU:
Lunches should be ordered at least a day ahead so food is not wasted.
